Elena looked down at the document on the desk, her brow furrowing in confusion as she read the bold title at the top of the first page.
Elena: "Full Legal Guardianship and Estate Management Directorship"? Mr. Vance, what is this?
David: I’m restructuring my entire estate and family trust, Elena. I’m firing the old management team that allowed Veronica to tamper with our accounts in the first place.
Elena: But... why are you showing this to me?
David: I want you to step down from your role as the house housekeeper immediately.
Elena’s heart dropped into her stomach. Her hands tightened in her lap as she looked up at David, her voice trembling slightly.
Elena: Are you... are you firing me, Mr. Vance?
David: Absolutely not. I’m offering you a full-time position as Maya’s official co-guardian and the Director of the Vance Family Charitable Foundation, with a starting salary of one hundred and fifty thousand dollars a year, full medical benefits, and complete housing accommodations for you and your family on this property.
Elena gasped, her eyes swelling with sudden, overwhelming tears. She covered her mouth with both hands, unable to process the incredible words coming from her employer.
Elena: Mr. Vance... I... I don't know what to say. I don't have a college degree in business. I was just a maid...
David: You have something far more valuable than a college degree, Elena. You have absolute integrity, courage, and unconditional love for my daughter. You proved that when you threw your own body onto hard marble to save her life.
Elena: I don't know if I deserve all of this...
David: You deserve far more than this, Elena. You saved my entire world. This contract guarantees that you will never have to worry about rent, medical bills, or financial security ever again.
From down the hallway, the sound of tiny, rapid footsteps echoed through the house. Little Maya ran into the study, holding a colorful drawing she had just finished with her crayons. She ran straight to Elena’s chair, scrambling up into her lap and hugging her tightly around the neck.
Maya: Look, Elena! I drew a picture of you, me, and Daddy! You have superhero wings in my drawing because you caught me!
Elena hugged the little girl tightly against her chest, tears spilling freely down her cheeks as she rested her chin on Maya’s soft hair.
Elena: I will always catch you, sweet girl. Always.
David smiled through his own tears as he watched the two of them. The dark shadow that had hung over their home for months had finally been lifted, replaced by a deep bond of loyalty, trust, and real family.
David: Welcome to the family, Elena. Officially.
Elena took the pen from the desk, her hand steady and proud, and signed her name at the bottom of the contract, securing a bright, safe future for herself and the little girl whose life she had saved.
