Shadows in the Mansion

The Maid Who Saved the Dallas Heiress

Arthur: What on earth is happening here?! Elena, why are you on the floor?

Elena: Mr. Miller... she threw her. She dropped Lily over the balcony railing!

Arthur: What?! Evelyn, is this true?

Evelyn: She's lying, Arthur! The maid is insane! She snatched the baby from my arms and tripped on the stairs!

Elena: That is not true! Look at the security cameras! You held her over the edge!

Arthur: CALL 911 RIGHT NOW! POLICE ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Arthur pulled out his phone with shaking hands, dialing emergency services as he rushed over to scoop his trembling daughter from Elena's arms. Lily wrapped her small fingers tightly into Arthur's suit jacket, her body shaking from fear.

Evelyn: Arthur, sweetie, you can't believe a word this hired help says. She's been jealous of my position since the day I moved in after your wife passed!

Arthur: Shut up, Evelyn! Just shut up until the police get here!

Elena: I was cleaning the study downstairs when I heard Mrs. Miller screaming at the baby. When I ran out, she was already holding her over the railing.

Evelyn: You incompetent girl! I will have you fired and blacklisted from every estate in Texas!

Arthur: You won't be firing anyone, Evelyn. If what Elena says is true, you're going to prison.

Within seven minutes, the wail of sirens echoed down the long private driveway. Two uniformed Texas police officers pushed through the front doors, their boots clicking sharply against the white marble floor.

Officer Davis: Hands where we can see them! What's the situation here?

Arthur: Officer, my wife just attempted to murder my three-year-old daughter by dropping her off the second-story balcony. My maid caught her.

Officer Davis: Ma'am, step down the stairs slowly with your hands up.

Evelyn: This is a complete misunderstanding! My husband is stressed about the real estate business and the maid is delusional!

Officer Ramos: Step down now, ma'am!

Evelyn slowly walked down the marble steps, her cheeks flushed with red indignation. The moment she reached the bottom, Officer Ramos grabbed her arms, pulling them behind her back as the metallic click of handcuffs echoed in the large foyer.

Evelyn: Get your filthy hands off me! Do you know who I am? Do you know who my lawyers are?

Officer Davis: You have the right to remain silent, ma'am. I suggest you use it.
