The Maid Who Saved the Dallas Heiress

Three months later, the sun shone brightly over the Dallas County Courthouse. High-profile news cameras lined the steps as police cruisers brought Evelyn to her final sentencing hearing. Clad in a prison jumpsuit and wrist restraints, her former glamour was completely gone, replaced by bitterness and anger.

Judge Harris: In the matter of the State of Texas versus Evelyn Miller, the court has reviewed the clear video evidence, the testimony of law enforcement, and the financial documentation regarding intent.

Evelyn's Attorney: Your Honor, my client was experiencing severe mental distress and asks for leniency and probation with mandatory counseling.

Prosecutor: Your Honor, the defendant intentionally dropped a three-year-old child from a height of twenty feet to secure financial control over a $40 million trust. Leniency is an insult to justice.

Judge Harris: I agree with the prosecution. The defendant's actions were cold, calculated, and malicious. I sentence you, Evelyn Miller, to twenty-five years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice without the possibility of early parole.

Evelyn gasped as the gavel struck the bench. She turned around, glaring venomously at Arthur and Elena sitting together in the front row of the gallery, holding young Lily.

Evelyn: You ruined my life! You dirty little maid, you stole everything from me!

Officer Ramos: Silence in the court! Move forward, inmate!

The guards yanked Evelyn through the side door of the courtroom, her screaming fading down the hallway until the heavy doors clicked shut.

Arthur: It's finally over.

Elena: She can never hurt Lily again.

Outside the courthouse, reporters pressed forward with microphones, asking for statements regarding the high-profile real estate family scandal.

Reporter: Mr. Miller! Is it true that your maid saved your daughter and turned out to be the rightful heir to the family trust?

Arthur: Elena is not my maid. She is my family. And as of today, she is a full partner in the estate management firm and co-guardian of my daughter.
