Arthur: Elena, are you alright? Are you hurt from catching her?
Elena: My knee is scraped and my shoulder hurts a little, but Lily is okay. That's all that matters.
Arthur: You saved my baby's life. I don't even know how to begin to thank you.
Officer Davis: Sir, we need to secure any security footage you have immediately to corroborate the statements.
Arthur: The security hub is in my office. We have high-definition cameras covering the main foyer, the balcony, and all entry points.
Evelyn: Arthur, please... don't do this. Think about the family reputation! Think about the media coverage!
Arthur: You didn't think about my daughter's life! Officer, right this way.
Arthur led the officers into the private office while Elena sat on the living room sofa, holding a glass of water with trembling hands. She rocked young Lily gently back and forth until the toddler finally fell asleep, exhausted from crying.
Elena: I won't let anyone hurt you again, little one.
Inside the office, Arthur rewound the digital video recorder and pressed play. The video was crystal clear. It showed Evelyn dragging the crying child toward the balcony railing, raising her over the edge, and cold-bloodedly releasing her grip. It showed Elena sliding across the floor like a baseball player, catching the baby inches from the hard stone floor.
Officer Davis: My God... that maid is a hero. That fall would have been fatal for a child that age.
Arthur: She tried to kill her... my own wife tried to kill my daughter.
Officer Ramos: Sir, this is clear attempted capital murder. We're taking her into custody immediately.
Arthur: Do whatever you need to do. I'm calling my divorce lawyer right now to draft full emergency protective orders and initiate foreclosure on her separate property trust.
The officers led a screaming, cursing Evelyn out through the front doors, pushing her into the back of the police cruiser. As the police car drove away down the long estate entrance, the mansion returned to a quiet stillness, but the air was thick with tension.
