The Maid Who Saved the Heir

The pristine marble floor of the Dallas mansion felt cold against Sarah's knees, but the icy terror in her heart was far worse. High above on the grand balcony, Evelyn held the three-year-old child over the polished wooden railing. The baby girl’s tiny legs kicked wildly in the air, her innocent eyes wide with confusion as the woman holding her sneered down at the grand foyer below.

Evelyn: LOOK WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU DISOBEY ME!

Sarah: NO, PLEASE! DON'T HURT THE BABY! HAVE MERCY!

Evelyn: She means nothing to me! Neither do you!

Sarah didn't hesitate. As Evelyn loosened her grip and the child tumbled through the air, Sarah threw herself across the slick floor, reaching out with everything she had. Her arms caught the toddler just inches before impact, pulling the sobbing girl tight against her chest. Before Sarah could even catch her breath, the heavy front doors swung open, revealing Mr. Vance standing on the threshold, his face pale with horror at the scene unfolding before him.

Sarah: Call the police! Please, she tried to drop her!

Mr. Vance: CALL 911 RIGHT NOW! POLICE ARE ON THEIR WAY!

Evelyn: You're lying! It was an accident!

Mr. Vance: I saw it with my own eyes, Evelyn. It's over.

Within minutes, sirens blared outside the luxury estate, and two Texas police officers marched into the foyer, immediately handcuffing Evelyn. But as the officers led the screaming stepmother away, Sarah realized that the real battle for the baby’s future, the estate, and the truth was only just beginning.
