Marcus: "Who is this?"
Voice on Phone: "Mrs. Vance? Is your father still secured? We have a situation. The federal prosecutors just unsealed the indictment."
Marcus: "This isn't Mrs. Vance. This is her husband. Who the hell are you?"
The line went completely silent for five long seconds before a cold, smooth voice replied.
Voice on Phone: "Mr. Vance... you were never supposed to be involved in this. Put Sarah on the phone."
Marcus: "Listen to me very carefully. My wife, my child, and this old man are under my roof. Tell me what is going on right now or I walk straight to the Dallas police department!"
Sarah: "Marcus, please, hanging up on him will ruin everything! That's Richard, the estate executor!"
Marcus: "I don't care who he is! He's calling my wife's phone talking about indictments!"
The old man inside the wall stepped fully into the light of the living room, gripping the doorframe to balance himself.
Elderly Man: "Richard isn't trying to help me, Marcus. He's the one who stole the fifty million dollars. He put me in this vault so I couldn't testify against his syndicate!"
Sarah: "Father, stop talking! Richard said if we cooperated, he would payout the life insurance trust to us once the statute of limitations passed!"
Marcus: "Wait... Sarah... you knew your father was innocent, but you kept him locked up to collect a fraudulent life insurance payout?!"
Sarah burst into heavy tears, collapsing onto the leather couch as the magnitude of her betrayal hung in the air.
Sarah: "We were going to lose the house, Marcus! I did it for our family! I did it for Lily's future!"
Marcus: "You built our life on a foundation of lies and blood money!"
