The door slammed shut as Eleanor marched down the hallway in a blind rage, her heels clicking loudly against the tile.
Inside the room, the monitor chimed steadily as Clara squeezed Dominik’s hand tightly, tears sliding down her cheeks.
Clara: Your mother will never accept us, Dominik. She will make your life a living hell.
Dominik: Let her try. I don't care about the board meetings, the galas, or the family prestige anymore.
Clara: But your career... your father’s legacy...
Dominik: My father’s legacy was built on honesty and hard work, not fraud and intimidation. He would be ashamed of what my mother did.
Dr. Vance walked back into the room, holding an updated ultrasound report and looking much more relaxed.
Dr. Vance: Good news. Clara’s stress levels are stabilizing. The baby’s heart rate has returned to a normal rhythm.
Dominik: Thank God. Thank you so much, Dr. Vance.
Dr. Vance: We still need to keep her overnight for observation. Preterm labor is a real risk at thirty-two weeks under this kind of emotional distress.
Dominik: Whatever she needs, make sure she gets it. I am staying right here tonight.
Clara: You don't have to sleep in a chair, Dominik. You must be exhausted.
Dominik: I spent six months thinking I lost you forever, Clara. A uncomfortable chair is nothing compared to that pain.
Clara: Why didn't you look harder for me?
Dominik: I hired private investigators, Clara! But my mother intercepted their reports! She told me you moved to Europe with another man!
Clara: She told me you laughed when she handed me the eviction notice...
Dominik: I would never do that to you! I loved you from the moment I met you at the clinic!
Clara: I was so foolish to believe them... I was just so scared and alone...
Dominik: You will never be alone again. I swear to you on my life.
Suddenly, the small TV hanging on the wall flashed with a breaking news alert from the financial channel.
TV Anchor: Breaking news in the corporate sector. Rumors are circulating that the billion-dollar merger between Vance Holdings and the Sterling Group has been cancelled amidst allegations of fraud.
Clara: Dominik... look at the news!
Dominik: Victoria’s father is already leaking stories to save his own company's stock value.
Clara: Is this going to destroy your company?
Dominik: No. Tomorrow morning, my legal team will file a formal injunction against my mother and Victoria for corporate fraud and harassment.
Clara: You are going to sue your own mother?
Dominik: She crossed a line that can never be uncrossed when she targeted my child. She chose money over family a long time ago. Now she has to live with that choice.
