By dawn, the sun rose over the city skyline, casting a warm golden light through the wide windows of the hospital suite.
Dominik sat at the small corner table, working furiously on his laptop while taking private calls from his lead defense attorney.
Dominik: Marcus, I want the forensic accountants to pull every transaction from the estate account over the last eight months.
Marcus (on phone): Dominik, we already found a paper trail. Victoria’s father used family funds to cover his firm’s offshore debts.
Dominik: I knew it. That is why they were pushing so hard for this wedding. It wasn't an alliance; it was a bailout.
Marcus (on phone): Exactly. And your mother signed off on the transfer using your forged authorization signature while you were in London.
Dominik: Draft the lawsuit immediately. Include full criminal charges for forgery and identity theft.
Marcus (on phone): Understood. The press is already gathered outside the courthouse. This will be headline news by noon.
Dominik closed his laptop and walked back over to Clara’s bedside, gently placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
Clara: Is it bad?
Dominik: It is going to be messy, but the truth is finally out. They were using me, Clara. Victoria’s family was bankrupt.
Clara: So the whole engagement... it was all just a financial setup?
Dominik: Yes. My mother knew that if I married Victoria, our corporate assets would merge, hiding their illegal transfers forever.
Clara: And I was just an inconvenience in their way.
Dominik: You were the only real thing in my life, and they tried to steal that from me too.
The room door opened, and Dr. Vance stepped in with a broad, comforting smile on her face.
Dr. Vance: Good morning, parents. The morning vitals look fantastic. Clara, your blood pressure is back to perfect levels.
Clara: Does that mean I can go home today?
Dr. Vance: Yes, but under strict bed rest orders. No stress, no working, and plenty of fluid intake.
Dominik: She is coming home with me to my estate outside the city. It is quiet, secure, and completely private.
Clara: Dominik... are you sure? What about your mother?
Dominik: My mother was served with a restraining order thirty minutes ago. She cannot come within five hundred feet of you or our baby.
Clara: I can't believe this is really happening. It feels like a bad dream is finally ending.
Dominik: The nightmare is over, Clara. From now on, only good things are coming for us.
Dr. Vance: I will prepare the discharge paperwork right away. Congratulations to both of you.
