Two weeks later, the morning sun shone brightly over the lush green gardens of Dominik’s private estate in upstate New York.
Clara sat comfortably in a plush lounge chair on the sunlit back patio, sipping warm tea while watching the gentle breeze rustle the leaves.
Dominik walked out onto the patio, holding two thick legal folders under his arm, looking lighter and happier than he had in years.
Clara: How did the board meeting go today?
Dominik: It is officially over. The board voted unanimously to remove my mother from her executive position.
Clara: And Victoria’s family?
Dominik: Her father surrendered his license and is facing federal fraud charges. Victoria had to give up all her family assets to pay back the creditors.
Clara: Do you feel sad for them?
Dominik: I only feel sad that I didn't see through their greed sooner. But now, justice has been served.
Clara: What about the firm?
Dominik: I restructured the company. We are opening a brand new charitable foundation for maternal health right here in the city, named after our daughter.
Clara: Dominik... that is incredible! Are you serious?
Dominik: I have never been more serious about anything in my life. No woman should ever have to face what you went through alone in a hospital corridor.
Clara smiled softly, placing her hand gently over her baby bump as the baby gave a tiny, energetic kick.
Clara: She likes that idea a lot. She is kicking right now.
Dominik: Mind if I feel?
Dominik knelt beside her chair, placing his hand over hers, feeling the steady, rhythmic movement of his daughter’s life beneath his palm.
Dominik: Hey there, little girl. Your daddy is never going anywhere again.
Clara: Thank you for choosing us, Dominik. Thank you for standing up for what was right.
Dominik: You showed me what truly matters in this life, Clara. Wealth means nothing without the people you love.
He pulled a small velvet box from his jacket pocket and gently opened it, revealing a stunning sapphire engagement ring.
Dominik: Clara, will you do me the honor of making our family complete and becoming my wife?
Clara: Yes... a thousand times yes!
Dominik slid the ring onto her finger and wrapped his arms around her, holding his true family close under the bright, promising sky.
