Mark: Lily, sweetie, look at me. Look at Daddy. Are you okay?
Lily: My head hurts, Daddy! She shaved me! She said I was ugly!
Mark: You are beautiful, baby. You are the most beautiful girl in the world. Nobody is ever going to hurt you again.
Mark wrapped his suit jacket around his daughter, holding her close to his chest. He looked up at Brenda, Clara’s maid of honor, who was crying silently in the corner of the suite.
Mark: Brenda, did you help her do this?
Brenda: Mark, I swear I tried to stop her! She told me if I didn't hold Lily down, she’d fire me from the firm and ruin my career! Clara has been acting insane all morning!
Clara: Shut up, Brenda! You owe your entire salary to my father’s trust fund! You don't say a word!
Mark: Don't you dare speak to anyone like that in front of my daughter.
Clara: Mark, listen to yourself! You are ruining a three-hundred-thousand-dollar wedding over a hair style! Hair grows back! Do you know how much money my family spent on this venue?!
Mark: I don't care about your money, Clara. I care about my child.
Clara: She’s not even your biological kid! She’s just a orphan you took in when your poor sister died! Why are you prioritizing her over our future estate, our prenuptial agreement, everything we planned?!
Mark felt a cold chill run through his body. He stepped closer to Clara, his voice dropping into a dangerous whisper.
Mark: What did you just say?
Clara: You heard me! She’s a burden! I was doing you a favor by teaching her discipline before we moved into the estate!
Mark: My sister died eighteen months ago. Lily is my daughter. If you can't see that, you never loved me at all.
Clara: I love your standing! I love what your family's firm represents! We are supposed to be the top power couple in Dallas!
Mark: The wedding is canceled. Get out.
Clara: You can't cancel it! The guests are already in the courtyard! The press is outside! My father’s business partners are sitting in the front row!
Mark: Then you can go out there and explain to them why there isn't going to be a ceremony.
Clara: If you walk out that door, Mark, my father will pull every single investment from your technology startup! You will be completely bankrupt by tomorrow morning!
Mark: Let him try.
Mark turned his back on Clara and walked out of the suite, carrying Lily in his arms. Clara screamed in frustration, kicking a pile of hair on the floor, but Mark didn't turn back. He needed to get his daughter to safety, but as he reached the main lobby, he saw Clara’s father standing near the entrance with a strange document in his hand.
