Secrets In The Trust Fund

Groom Calls Off Wedding After Bride Shaves Daughter's Hair

Arthur: Mark! What is the meaning of this? Why is Lily crying, and why are you not in your tuxedo jacket?

Mark: Arthur, ask your daughter. She just assaulted my seven-year-old child with electric clippers in the dressing room.

Arthur: What? Clara did what?

Mark: She shaved half of Lily’s head because she thought it ruined the visual symmetry of the wedding party. The wedding is off.

Arthur Vance, a high-stakes corporate attorney in Dallas, rubbed his temples. He looked genuinely shocked, but his expression quickly shifted into something more calculating.

Arthur: Mark, let’s be reasonable here. Clara has a volatile temper, yes, like her late mother. But we have millions of dollars tied up in this merger—I mean, marriage.

Mark: It was never a merger to me, Arthur. I loved your daughter. Or at least, I thought I did.

Arthur: Son, listen to me carefully. Step into my private office in the venue. There is something you need to see before you make a decision that destroys your financial life.

Mark: Nothing you say will make me go back to that altar.

Arthur: This isn't about the altar, Mark. This is about your late sister’s life insurance policy and her original will.

Mark stopped in his tracks. He stared at the older man, his pulse racing.

Mark: What do you know about my sister Sarah’s will?

Arthur: Sarah came to my law firm two weeks before her car accident. She created a private trust for Lily. A trust worth four million dollars.

Mark: Sarah was a schoolteacher. She didn't have four million dollars.

Arthur: She did. From your grandfather’s hidden offshore estate. And guess who was listed as the sole executor if Sarah passed away?

Mark: Me.

Arthur: No, Mark. Clara convinced Sarah to list our firm as the primary trustee. Clara knew about this money before she even started dating you.

Mark felt like the ground beneath him had vanished. The entire relationship, the sudden romance, the lavish dinners—it had all been planned from the start.

Mark: She used me... to get to Lily’s inheritance?

Arthur: She used us both, Mark. But I just found out the truth thirty minutes ago when my paralegal delivered these court filings. Clara was planning to file for legal guardianship of Lily right after the wedding, citing your busy work schedule!

Mark: She wanted to take my daughter away from me?!

Arthur: She wanted control of the trust fund. Once you were married, under Texas law, she would have joint authority over the accounts.

Mark: Where is the paperwork right now?

Arthur: Right here in my briefcase. And if you help me put an end to her financial schemes today, I will make sure you get 100% full custody and control over Sarah’s trust without a court battle.

Before Mark could answer, the door swung open again. Clara walked down the hallway, her face twisted in rage, carrying a signed copy of a lawsuit draft.
