The Maid Who Saved the Heir

The pristine marble floor of the Dallas mansion echoed with the sudden, terror-filled scream that shattered the quiet morning. High above the foyer, on the second-floor balcony, a small bundle wrapped in a soft blue blanket slipped through the carved mahogany railing, tumbling toward the hard ground below.

Elena: No! Dear God, no!

Elena did not hesitate. Dropping her cleaning rag, the young maid threw herself across the sleek tile, her knees sliding hard against the cold surface as her fingers stretched out in pure desperation.

Elena: I’ve got you! I’ve got you!

With a brutal thud, her hands cupped together just inches above the floor, catching the heavy bundle right before impact. The breath slammed out of her lungs, but she held the crying infant tightly against her pounding chest, trembling from head to toe.

Elena: Shh, sweet baby... you're safe. You're okay. I caught you.

Heavy footsteps thundered down the hall outside as the double front doors burst wide open. Mark walked in, holding his leather briefcase, his face instantly turning pale at the sight of his maid curled up on the floor with his weeping infant daughter.

Mark: What on earth just happened?!

Before Elena could even catch her breath to speak, a shrill, hysterical voice echoed from the top of the balcony stairs. Victoria stood at the railing, pointing down with a shaking finger, her eyes wide with manufactured terror.

Victoria: Mark! Thank God you're home! She tried to kill our baby! She dropped her on purpose!

Elena: What?! No! Mrs. Victoria, that's not what happened!

Mark: Don't you dare lie to me!

Elena: Mr. Mark, please! I caught her! I saved her life!

Mark: Get out of my house right now! I'm calling 911!

Elena pulled the baby closer, tears streaming down her pale cheeks as she looked up at the wealthy couple, realizing instantly that the true nightmare was only just beginning.
