Secrets of the Royal Vault

The Tattered Pendant and the Roman Arena

King Aurelius: You think a glowing trinket makes you a ruler, boy?

Caleb: No. The original family trust, signed by the high council, makes me the rightful owner of this estate and throne!

King Aurelius: That contract was burned twenty years ago during the purge!

Caleb: You thought it was burned! But my father hid the micro-engraved deed inside the inner lining of this exact pendant!

A wave of loud whispers washed across the grandstands as the crowd processed the confession. The King's face turned pale, his knuckles white as he gripped the marble balcony rail.

Spectator Man: Did you hear that? The King just admitted to the purge!

Spectator Woman: He admitted the contract existed! He's an usurper!

King Aurelius: Shut your mouths, all of you! I am your ruler! I control the army, the bank accounts, and every square inch of this territory!

Caleb: You control nothing built on blood and fraudulent wills!

Guard Captain: Sire... is it true? Did you order the execution of the royal family?

King Aurelius: Stand down, Captain! That is a royal direct order!

Guard Captain: My allegiance was to the crown and the law, Aurelius. Not to a murderer.

The Guard Captain unclasped his heavy iron cloak and tossed it onto the stone floor of the balcony. Below in the ring, Caleb rested his hand on the lion's broad neck, stepping closer to the base of the royal tower.

Caleb: The law firm that held my family's original trust fund still has the master records stored in the city archives!

King Aurelius: Those archives were sealed under executive order!

Caleb: And the high court unsealed them this morning when my legal team submitted the authentic DNA match from my father's estate!

King Aurelius: No... no, that's impossible! The lawyers said you had no paper trail!

Caleb: You underestimated how long a rightful heir can survive in the shadows!
