The Secret Behind The Payroll

The CEO Fired The Housekeeper Until Her Little Girl Spoke Up

David: I am waiting for an answer, Harrison. Speak right now.

Harrison: Mr. Vance, there must be a misunderstanding with the bank accounts.

Clara: It is not a misunderstanding! I heard you in the office!

Elena: Clara, baby, please let the adults speak.

Clara: No, Mommy! He said if you complained to Mr. Vance, he would tell the police you stole the missing watch!

David turned his head slowly toward Harrison, his eyes narrowing into cold steel.

David: You threatened her?

Harrison: That is entirely untrue, sir! The child is repeating nonsense she heard on television!

Elena: It isn't nonsense, Mr. Vance. Mr. Harrison told me three months ago that my back wages were being placed in an escrow trust account due to audit checks.

David: An escrow trust account for a domestic staff salary? That makes zero sense!

Elena: I didn't know how corporate legal rules worked, sir. I was afraid to lose my job entirely, so I kept working.

David: You worked three full months without pay while taking care of this entire mansion and my daughter?

Elena: I needed the housing, sir. Without this job, Clara and I would be on the street.

David: Harrison, hand me that clipboard. Right now.

Harrison took a cautious step backward toward the grand staircase.

Harrison: Sir, these are confidential corporate legal balance sheets for Vance Enterprises. I should review them with the finance team first.

David: I own Vance Enterprises! Hand me the clipboard before I call security to take it from your hands!

Harrison reluctantly stepped forward and handed over the wooden board with trembling hands.

David flipped through the signed check ledgers, his eyes darting across figures and authorization signatures.

David: These checks are marked as paid out in full. My digital signature is on every single monthly stub!

Harrison: Exactly, sir! The funds left the account as scheduled!

David: Then why did Elena not receive them?

Clara: Because he put the green envelopes in his black leather bag!

Harrison: Be quiet, you little brat!

David: Do NOT talk to her like that in my house!

David stepped directly into Harrison's path, towering over the manager.

David: Where did the payroll cash transfers go, Harrison? Tell me the truth before I call the district attorney.

Harrison: Sir, there was a temporary cash flow adjustment in the estate budget...

David: You embezzled money meant for a single mother working in my home?

Elena: Mr. Vance, my rent for my mother's medical care in Texas is overdue because of this. They are threatening foreclosure on her small home.

David: This ends today. Right here, right now.

Clara: Mommy was crying in the kitchen because she couldn't buy my school books!

David: Elena, go sit with Clara in the living room. Harrison, you are not moving an inch from that spot.
