Marcus: WHAT DID YOU DO?! WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?!
Marcus dropped his phone, the glass screen shattering across the terrace floor. His face turned pale as he sprinted toward the edge, his heart slamming against his ribs. Below, Elena was on her knees on the narrow metal catwalk, clinging tightly to the sobbing child, her own body shaking violently as she pulled Lily back into safety.
Elena: I GOT YOU! I HAVE HER! She's safe! Sir, I have her!
Marcus: Hold her tight! Do not move, Elena! Stay right there!
Marcus reached over the low structural wall, his muscles straining as he grabbed Elena's wrists, helping pull both the nanny and his little girl back onto the main terrace floor. He scooped his daughter into his chest, clutching her tightly as the child buried her face in his neck, sobbing uncontrollably.
Marcus: You're okay, sweetie. Daddy's got you. You're safe now.
Evelyn: It was an accident! Marcus, you have to believe me! She tripped and bumped into my shoe! I was trying to block her!
Elena: She pushed her! I saw it with my own eyes! She looked right at her and pushed her toward the drop!
Evelyn: Shut up, you worthless maid! How dare you accuse me in my own home?! Marcus, fire her right now! She's lying to save herself!
Marcus: Shut your mouth, Evelyn!
Marcus turned, his eyes burning with a rage Evelyn had never seen before. He set the child gently in Elena's arms and stepped toward his wife. Before Evelyn could take another step back, Marcus raised his hand and slapped her hard across the face. The sharp slap rang across the silent rooftop terrace, forcing Evelyn to stumble back against the glass wall, holding her crimson cheek in total shock.
Evelyn: AH! You... you hit me?! You laid a hand on me for a hired maid and a useless brat?!
Marcus: You almost killed my daughter! Right in front of my eyes! Are you completely insane?!
Evelyn: I am your wife! You respect me! You think your family business or your money gives you the right to talk to me like this?!
Marcus: Get out. Get out of this house right now before I throw you off this roof myself!
Evelyn: You can't throw me out! I signed the prenuptial agreement, but I still have rights to this penthouse! My lawyer will destroy you!
Marcus: We'll see about that. Elena, take Lily inside. Lock the nursery door and do not come out until I tell you to.
Elena: Yes, Mr. Sterling. Come on, baby, let's go inside where it's safe.
Evelyn: You're making a massive mistake, Marcus. You think you can just cast me aside after everything I gave up for you? You have no idea what I'm capable of.
Marcus: I know exactly what you are now. A monster. And you won't get a single cent of my estate, my trust fund, or this family's money.
Evelyn: Good luck proving anything in court, Marcus. It's your maid's word against mine!
Evelyn sneered, wiping the tear from her face, adjusting her expensive coat, and stomping toward the glass sliding doors. But as she reached for the handle, Marcus reached into his pocket and pulled out his secondary personal device, pointing to the glowing green status indicator right above the security entry panel on the wall.
Marcus: You forgot one small thing, Evelyn. The entire penthouse exterior was upgraded with high-definition security cameras last week.
Evelyn: What... what are you talking about?
Marcus: Every angle of this terrace is recorded live to a secure cloud server. Including the moment your hands touched my daughter's shoulders.
Evelyn's face drained of all color, her arrogant expression vanishing into sheer panic as Marcus held up his phone screen displaying the crystal-clear recording of her push.
