Evelyn: Marcus... please. You don't understand what happened! I slipped, I lost my balance!
Marcus: Save it for the police. You thought you could eliminate her and take control of the family trust fund, didn't you?
Evelyn: That is absurd! I love this family! I came into this marriage wanting to build a life with you!
Marcus: You came into this marriage for my late wife's life insurance payout and my inheritance. I was blind, but today you opened my eyes wide open.
Evelyn: If you call the police, I will tell everyone about the offshore accounts! I will ruin your company's reputation before the board meeting today!
Marcus: Do whatever you want. There is nothing in this world more valuable to me than my daughter's life. You are finished.
Marcus pushed past her, walking into the main living room and sliding the terrace glass doors shut, locking the heavy digital deadbolt behind him. Evelyn slammed her fists against the thick reinforced glass, shouting hysterically from the outside deck.
Evelyn: Open this door, Marcus! Open it right now! You can't keep me out here!
Inside the quiet luxury living area, Marcus walked over to the sofa where Elena was holding Lily, rocking her back and forth gently. The baby was slowly calming down, sucking her thumb while clinging tightly to Elena's sweater.
Marcus: Elena... I don't even know how to begin thanking you. You saved her life today. You risked your own life jumping onto that catwalk.
Elena: I did what any human being would do, Mr. Sterling. I couldn't just stand there and watch that poor child fall. She's so innocent.
Marcus: You showed more love to my daughter in two seconds than that woman did in two years. I won't forget this.
Elena: What are you going to do now? She seems desperate. People like her don't just walk away softly.
Marcus: I am calling my divorce lawyer immediately. And then I am calling the detective in charge of our district. She is going to jail for attempted murder.
Elena: Please be careful, sir. When I was wiping Lily's hands earlier, I noticed Mrs. Evelyn had been going through your private office drawers this morning before coming outside.
Marcus: My office drawers? What was she looking for?
Elena: I saw her holding a legal folder with red tape on it. She put it inside her leather handbag right before she walked onto the rooftop.
Marcus's eyes widened with sudden realization. He walked swiftly across the hardwood floor toward his private study, pushing open the heavy mahogany doors. The drawer to his executive desk was unlocked, and the primary original copy of his late wife's last will and testament was completely missing.
Marcus: She took the original will document... She's trying to destroy the child's legal guardianship papers!
Elena: Oh my god... If that document disappears, who gets the estate if something happens to you?
Marcus: Under the old draft... everything would default to her as the legal spouse. She planned this whole thing out down to the minute!
Elena: Sir! Look at the balcony window!
Marcus rushed back into the living room just in time to see Evelyn using a heavy metal patio chair from the terrace, smashing it repeatedly against the corner glass pane, trying to break her way inside to retrieve her bag before the police arrived.
