Marcus: What... what is this name doing here?
Elena: Mr. Sterling? Are you okay? You look like you've seen a ghost.
Marcus: Elena... look at this line right here. The co-trustee appointed by my late wife... it's not a bank. It's not a lawyer.
Elena walked closer, holding little Lily against her shoulder while looking over Marcus's trembling hand at the legal text printed on the crisp parchment paper.
Elena: "In the event of my passing, full custodial management of the child's trust shall be overseen by... Elena Vance"?!
Elena: Wait... that's... that's my name! How is my full name on your wife's official estate document from three years ago?!
Marcus: You... you knew my late wife before you took this nanny job?
Elena: No! I swear to you, Mr. Sterling! I applied for this job through an agency six months ago! I never met your wife in my life!
Marcus: Then why is your full name, your birth date, and your official ID number listed right here as the primary backup guardian for my daughter?!
From the doorway, where two guards were holding her in handcuffs, Evelyn burst into a shrill, hysterical laugh that echoed across the stone terrace.
Evelyn: You idiot! You absolute foolish man! You think your innocent little nanny is just a random girl from an employment agency?!
Marcus: Shut up, Evelyn! Explain what this means right now!
Evelyn: Ask her! Ask your sweet little maid who her real biological sister was! Ask her why she really walked into this apartment six months ago!
Marcus turned slowly to face Elena, his face pale, his eyes wide with confusion and suspicion. Elena stood frozen, her eyes welling up with big tears as she looked down at the paper, then back at Marcus.
Marcus: Elena... tell me the truth right now. Who was your sister?
Elena: Marcus... I... I didn't want to tell you like this. I swear I never meant to hurt anyone!
Marcus: WHO WAS SHE?!
Elena: Clara... Clara was my half-sister. We were separated when we were children after our parents divorced. I only found out she was my sister after she passed away three years ago...
Marcus: Clara... my wife was your sister?!
Elena: Yes! When she got sick, she tracked me down secretly. She knew she didn't have much time left. She told me she was worried about you being surrounded by greedy corporate sharks who only wanted your money.
Marcus: Why didn't you tell me when I hired you?!
Elena: Because she made me promise! She said if you knew who I was, you would think I was only coming for the money or the inheritance! She wanted me to enter your life quietly, just to protect baby Lily if anything ever went wrong!
Evelyn: She's a liar! She came here to steal my place! She planned this whole setup with Clara before she died to push me out of the family estate!
Elena: I didn't even know I was named in the will, Mr. Sterling! Clara only told me to protect Lily with my life if anyone ever tried to harm her!
The elevator doors opened again with a heavy clang, and four armed NYPD officers stepped out onto the penthouse hallway, moving quickly toward the terrace with their badges displayed.
